Fateful, unique
Closing, ceasing, halting, axing
Creation of another story

A promenade in Lamma Island is just peaceful.

It is an idyllic sanctuary in the midst of the hectic Hong Kong,

a pleasing holm with no passing cars to disturb the tranquility of bucolic lives,

a relaxed spot where one can smell no signs of prosperity from the bustling city outside.

Of course, the air is invigorating as well.

Even the stray cats on the streets look lazier here.

You cannot find any roads for cars here.

There are just some small footpaths formed by stores and houses.

Some of them are even leading to the beach.

The shops here are not commercial at all,

In fact, there are quite a number of unique individual shops.

Some of them are selling vinyl records,

some selling healthy food,

and there are so many small cafes.

Some of them are owned by retired foreigners.

A foreigner is even brewing his own beer here.

Will I choose to have a store of mine here for retirement like the foreigners do?

No matter how many times you ask me, my answer is still the same –

I will pick Bali for my retired years if I want to have a store of mine.

Lamma Island is very small.

In fact, if you keep walking, you just need a few hours to walk through the whole isle.

There are many tourists on the island.

For all that, the placid residential area is still so soothing.

Getting old in one’s own good time on a bijou isle like this is in fact, an excellent option.

So is this an end or a start?

I headed to the piers,

getting ready to take the next ship back to Hong Kong Island.

When I looked up, I saw a restaurant named “Sampan”.

That means a small boat.

In the movie “An Autumn’s Tale”,

Samuel and Jennifer could not help but broken up because of some reasons.

After some years Samuel opened a restaurant by the sea, which was also called Sampan.

One day, Jennifer happened to go to the beach and saw the restaurant.

That’s the retirement plan Samuel told her about.

Jennifer walked to the restaurant. Without surprise,

Samuel came out. The movie ends here.

A start or a termination,

this depends on one’s definition,

You thought it’s over,

in fact it’s nova,

Catches you with no preparation.

Instead, after so many years,

will one still remember the reason why did he/she come here?

Lamma Island is one of the outlying islands of Hong Kong.

You can take a 30-minute ship-trip from Central Pier 4.

The shops here aren’t commercialised, there’s also a nice beach too.

There are no cars on the island but just some simple transportations.

If you want a relaxing stroll without spending a lot.

Lamma Island is definitely a great choice.
